Dr. Warren Frankel with his wife Kathy and their three children, moved to

Paso Robles from the San Fernando Valley in 1979, hoping for a simpler life.

Initially, Dr. Frankel planted pistachios on the ranch, followed by the planting of 20 acres of Cabernet Sauvignon grapes.  After the initial success with both plantings, Dr. Frankel expanded the vineyard operation in 1997, planting the                                                                          vineyard with other varietals. For the first ten years or so, the Frankel family                                                                            did not make any wine and simply sold their fruit to other amazing wineries                                                                            in the region.  It was Dr. Frankel's dream that his son Paul would someday                                                                              have the desire to make wine and together they could open a winery and                                                                              tasting room of their own.  In 2006, they broke ground for the tasting room                                                                            and it opened for business in October of 2007.

Winemaker, Paul Frankel, has created a premium portfolio of wines from the original old vine Cabernet Sauvignon to the small, quality estate lots of Pinot Noir, Viognier and more.   Paul grew up on the 265-acre ranch and from an early age, he showed an interest in the land, science, earth, soil and farming, which shows through in the quality of his wines today.  Paul graduated from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo with a Bachelor's Degree in Viticulture and Enology.   His primary area of study was grape growing, vineyard canopy management and microbiology.  He goal was to take over and manage the family vineyard but that all changed in 2008 when he "took a crack at making wine and was instantly hooked!"  At 22 years old, he became the youngest winemaker in Paso Robles!
