The spotlight is back on one of Paso Robles' most cherished treasures, the Pioneer Players. Our newest exhibit, Pioneer Players – The Early Years, spearheaded by Dana Sanchez, tells the story of the community theater company that brought live performance to Paso Robles starting in 1964. Established by talented local co-founders, the Pioneer Players performed at Paso Robles High School (now George Flamson Middle School) and quickly became a vital part of our community's cultural life.

Hollywood Meets Small-Town Theater
What made the Pioneer Players extraordinary wasn't just the performances; it was the support they received from some surprising sources. Actress Frances Rafferty Baker, legendary director King Vidor, and silent film star Colleen Moore all championed this small-town theater company.
A Labor of Love
This exhibit, crafted by Dana Sanchez, is a beautiful homage to her father, historical advocate Norma Moye, and all the Pioneer Players who graced the stage during those early years. It's a living testimony to how arts and theater shape young lives here in Paso Robles and beyond. Discover how a community came together to create art, build confidence, and make memories that lasted a lifetime.
